Every week, we look at websites belonging to shops, clinics, restaurants and service businesses across Lahore — and the same handful of problems show up again and again. None of them are complicated to fix. Most just get overlooked because nobody pointed them out. Here are the ten we see most often, and what to do about each one.

1. No Google Business Profile, or an incomplete one

For local searches like "SEO agency near me" or "bakery in Lahore", your Google Business Profile often matters more than your website. A profile with a wrong category, missing hours, or zero photos gets skipped in favour of a competitor with a complete one.

2. Slow-loading websites

If your homepage takes more than 3 seconds to load, a large share of visitors leave before they even see it. Oversized, uncompressed images are usually the biggest culprit — often responsible for megabytes of unnecessary weight on a single page.

3. Missing or duplicate page titles

Every page needs a unique, descriptive title — not "Home" or "Untitled Page 2". Titles are one of the strongest signals Google uses to understand what a page is about, and they're free to fix.

4. No mobile-friendly design

The majority of local searches in Pakistan happen on phones. A site that requires pinching and zooming to read sends visitors straight back to the search results — and tells Google the experience is poor.

5. Ignoring local keywords

Writing "digital marketing services" instead of "digital marketing services in Lahore" might seem like a small difference, but it's the difference between competing globally and actually showing up for the searches your real customers are typing.

6. No backlinks at all

Backlinks — other websites linking to yours — are one of the strongest trust signals for Google. Even a few links from local directories, partner businesses or guest posts can noticeably move the needle for a site that currently has none.

7. Thin or outdated content

A five-year-old "About Us" page with no other content gives Google very little to work with. Regularly publishing genuinely useful content — like this article — gives search engines fresh signals that the business is active and relevant.

8. Broken links and images

Dead links and broken images quietly damage both user trust and search rankings. A quick monthly check with a free tool like Google Search Console catches most of these before they become a problem.

9. No SSL certificate (still on "http" instead of "https")

Browsers now actively warn visitors when a site isn't secure. Beyond the trust issue, Google has confirmed HTTPS is a ranking factor — and most hosting providers offer free SSL certificates today, so there's rarely a good reason to skip it.

10. Not tracking anything

Without Google Analytics and Search Console installed, there's no way to know which pages bring visitors, which keywords are working, or where people are dropping off. You end up guessing instead of improving.

The good news

Every mistake on this list is fixable — most within a few days, not months. If you're not sure which of these apply to your own site, we're happy to take a look and tell you honestly what's worth fixing first.
